Rainy weather

Here are some family activities to do in the region when it rains or the weather is bad.

Underground mills at Le Col-des-Roches*

Discover the incredible history of the Col-des-Roches mills, which began in the middle of the 17th century.


How to get there:
  • by car (40 minutes, access)
  • by train to Le Locle (free with the Neuchâtel Tourist Card) then by bus or on foot to the Col-des-Roches (1.8km)

Opening hours and rates:

  • From April to October, open every day from 10am to 5pm
  • Visit with audioguide (FR/DE/IT/EN) or guided tours
    • Monday to Friday at 3pm in French
    • On weekends at 2pm in German and 3.30pm in French
  • Prices: Adults CHF 14.00 / Children CHF 7.00 / Family CHF 30.00

Asphalt Mines in Val-de-Travers*

The Presta asphalt mines were in operation from 1712 to 1986. A visit not to be missed!


How to get there:
  • by train directly to the mines, La Presta stop (free with the Neuchâtel Tourist Card)
  • by car (40 minutes, free parking, access)
Opening hours and rates:
  • From April to November, open every day from 9.30am to 5pm (Asphalt Story exhibition and Miners’ Garden)
  • Guided tours of the mines only! Every day at 10.30am and 2pm + 12pm and 4pm in July/August
  • Prices : Adults CHF 21.00 / Children CHF 15.00 (free under 6 years) / Family CHF 60.00

Restaurants:

On site, the Café des Mines allows you to taste its famous ham cooked in the asphalt, among other specialities!

Yatoo Family Center*

Overflowing with energy? Trampoline park, Jungle kids, Glow-in-the-dark Mini Golf… Come unwind in Thielle (NE).
Access
  • 40 minutes by public transport (free with the Neuchâtel Tourist Card)
  • by car (10 minutes, access)
Activities
  • Jungle Kids, children from 1 to 8 years old: 4 play zones for the little ones with slides, ball pits, karting track, trampolines,…
  • Trampoline park, adults and children from 7 years old: 8 trampoline zones and a Ninja course
  • Glow-in-the-dark Mini Golf, adults and children from 1 year old: 18 holes in the dark along fluorescent strips.

  • Open from Wednesday to Sunday and during Neuchâtel school holidays (check schedules online)
  • Prices: vary depending on age and activity
